About us

"And take off
Your thirsty boots and stay
For a while
Your feet are hot and weary
From a dusty mile
And maybe I can
Make you laugh, maybe I can try
I'm just lookin' for the evening
The morning in your eyes."

Eric Andersen's "Thirsty Boots" pays homage and offers comfort to a weary crusader seeking rest following their daunting yet crucial service as a Freedom Rider.

For us, Thirsty Boots represent respite - a bit of peace following arduous and exasperating labor for societal betterment.

Hi. We're Erin and Paul. We met in 2008 as rookie teachers in Baltimore City. After purchasing our first home together, we planted our first garden and discovered our love of making things grow. We quickly outgrew out little rowhome plot and put down roots with the purchase of our 12-acre “hobby farm” in York County, Pennsylvania.

For many years we lived a seemingly double life – sleeping and waking in the Amish Country of Pennsylvania, then commuting more than an hour each way to spend our days tackling the challenges of public education in West Baltimore.

In 2019, we made the monumental decision to leave teaching and fully immerse ourselves in our rural home community – with the hope of expanding our little farm beyond its “hobby” status.

We officially incorporated as an LLC in January 2021, kicking off our rookie season selling plants and other wares from our farm at Pop-Ups in Pennsylvania and Maryland. Check out our event schedule to come see us in person!
